NRV CARES' programs support its mission to protect children from abuse and to strengthen families through education, advocacy and community partnerships.  These programs include:

CASA of the New River Valley trains volunteers who are dedicated to advocating for safe, permanent homes for abused and neglected children who are involved in court proceedings.  The New River Valley is home to 37 trained CASA volunteers.  These volunteers are sworn officers of the court and act as the "eyes and ears" of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court judges.

Community Education Activities which include a variety of programs designed to address the issues of child abuse and neglect.  Community Presentations, projects in local schools and awareness campaigns are all part of the work of NRV CARES for children and families in the New River Valley.

Parenting Young Children Courses uses the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) curriculum for parents/caregivers of children ages birth to 6 years and provides information on improving communication, reducing family stress as well as providing information about child development.
